Job Title: Polysomnographic Registered Technologist Profession: Polysomnography Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 12 3x12 Hr Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience not specified License: Current RPSGT/RST or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) licensed in the state of practice, if required. Certifications: BLS Certification or RQI for Healthcare Providers; specific certifications or skills as required by facility or patient population (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP) Must-Have: - Ability to address and solve both technical and interpersonal problems. - Demonstrated communication skills. - Ability to use computerized and mechanical equipment efficiently. - Ability to score studies according to AASM guidelines. - Ability to assess customer needs effectively. - Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. Description: Accountable for performing and coordinating and scoring physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders. The incumbent provides care to patients via technology, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care with other health care professionals. Perform overnight Polysomnographic studies, using various modes of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy interventions. Perform Home Sleep Apnea Tests (HSAT). Monitor and document on patients undergoing physiologic studies. Monitor and track equipment and supplies. Complete record keeping and charting. This position provides supervision, mentorship, and ongoing education of the PSG Tech and PST CPSGT. Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require effective verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to supervise others and to work night shifts as required. Includes frequent computer use for typing and accessing needed information. May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when taking clinical shifts.
