Job DescriptionPositionHead CoachFLSA Status : ExemptSalary : This position is stipend based and is reflected in the Certified Negotiated Agreement Co‑Curricular Stipends, Appendix A‑2Reports To : Activities DirectorSummaryUnder the direction of the Activities Director, the Head Coach will help participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self‑esteem. The coach will oversee the program in observance of all MSHA and school policies and regulations in the best interests of all student participants.QualificationsValid Montana Teacher Certification preferredMeets MHSA CriteriaPrevious head coaching experience in specific coaching field preferredHigh School/Trade School degree preferredCitizenship, residency, or work visa requiredEssential FunctionsSecures facilities through the athletic office to ensure safe practice/competition environment for students.Plans and communicates to assistant coaches practice sessions and competition strategies which ensure the health and physical well‑being of student participants.Develops, communicates and maintains a regular schedule of in‑season practices.Maintains current equipment/uniform inventory and annually recommends purchase of such to the Activities Director.Manages all fund‑raises, deposits, and distribution of funds related to sport‑specific student activity accounts in association with the Activities Director.Provides for the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.Assures that all student participants are in compliance with MHSA requirements including current athletic physical, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and academic eligibility prior to practice, tryout, and competition.Models and instills the values of sportsmanship and fair play to all participants, and enforces consequences for breach of such standards.Monitors proper supervision of student athletes at practices, games, in locker rooms, and on school‑provided transportation.Assists in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.Conducts a mandatory preseason parent meeting.Maintains individual and team records and statistics.Assists in planning and implements a seasonal awards recognition program through the Activities Director.Engages in personal professional development activities.Implements programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning for all levels of the program.Attends at least one professional development workshop and Booster Club meeting.Provides and annually updates program goals and expectations.Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequiredKnowledge of MHSA rules and regulations.Knowledge of the relevant sports field.Knowledge of Title X requirements for equal opportunity for student participation in activities.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students, and the community.Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.Strong computer skills.Skill in budget preparation.Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast‑paced environment.Ability to stay abreast of current and developing trends (video, voice, data, and computing technologies).Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.Physical RequirementsRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult‑size body weight with a two‑to‑three person lift).Terms of EmploymentPosition is contracted as determined by the school district.Reviewed annually by Activities Director.Salary will be set by the Board of Trustees.#J-18808-Ljbffr
